Your German Specialty Roaster Wants the EUDR Dossier for the Next Honduran Single Origin — Here's the Document They Need in 15 Minutes.

Honduras is the largest coffee producer in Central America and among the world's top ten coffee exporters by volume. Around 110,000 smallholder families grow coffee across the mountain ranges of Copán, Santa Bárbara, Comayagua, La Paz, El Paraíso, Intibucá, Lempira and Ocotepeque, with IHCAFÉ coordinating quality, cup scoring and exports. The European Union is one of Honduras' top three coffee destinations, with Germany, Belgium and Italy leading imports of washed Arabica. From 30 December 2026, no Honduran coffee enters the EU without an EUDR Due Diligence Statement. EUDRCheck generates the dossier in 15 minutes, browser-side, €199 per lot.

The numbers that matter for Honduran coffee exports to the EU

Honduras is Central America's largest coffee producer and one of the world's top ten exporters. IHCAFÉ, the Instituto Hondureño del Café, has played a central role in consolidating the sector since 1970. Around 110,000 coffee-growing families across 15 departments produce mostly washed Arabica varieties — Catuaí, Lempira, Parainema, IHCAFÉ 90, Typica and Bourbon.

The European Union is a crucial destination for Honduran coffee. Germany, Belgium and Italy alternate as top-three importers, with specialty roasters in Hamburg, Antwerp, Trieste and Milan building direct-trade relationships with producers in Copán, Marcala and Santa Bárbara.

Honduras is classified as low-risk under the Commission's Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1093 of 22 May 2025. Micro and small primary operators may qualify for the simplified declaration under Annex III. Cooperatives and export companies aggregating larger volumes generally operate under the standard DDS path of Article 4 and Annex II.

What your German, Belgian or Italian buyer is actually asking you for

When your European buyer says "I need your EUDR compliance documents", they are not asking for a certificate or a quality statement. Under Article 4 and Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, the specific data fields they need from you, as the supplier of the consignment, are defined by law.

1
Commodity description under Combined Nomenclature
HS code 0901 for green coffee, with scientific name Coffea arabica (Catuaí, Lempira, Parainema, IHCAFÉ 90, Typica, Bourbon). Annex II point 2.
2
Country of production
Honduras — with department and municipality (e.g., Copán-Corquín, La Paz-Marcala, Lempira-San Juan). Annex II point 3.
3
Geolocation of every plot of land
Minimum 6 decimal places, WGS-84, GeoJSON format compliant with RFC 7946. For plots under 4 hectares, a single point per plot. For plots of 4 hectares or more, a full perimeter polygon. Annex II point 4 + Article 2(28).
4
Supplier and buyer traceability data
Name, registered address, business identifier of every operator upstream and every recipient downstream. Annex II point 5.
5
Declaration of compliance with Honduran law
Across eight areas: land use rights under the Ley de Propiedad and the Ley para la Modernización y Desarrollo Agrícola; environmental protection under the Ley General del Ambiente; forest-related rules under the Ley Forestal, Áreas Protegidas y Vida Silvestre; third-party rights, labour, human rights, FPIC, tax and anti-corruption. Article 2(40) + Article 3(b).
6
Risk assessment against 14 criteria
Systematic analysis under Article 10.2 (letters a to n), concluding in a formal statement that the risk of non-compliance is negligible. Article 10.

Your buyer is expecting all six of those elements inside one structured document submitted to TRACES NT before the shipment crosses the EU border. EUDRCheck generates it for you in 15 minutes.

The three most common reasons Honduran DDS submissions get pushback — and how to avoid them

Pattern 1 — Misreading the low-risk classification

"Honduras is low-risk, we don't need a full DDS" (wrong for most exporters)

The simplified declaration under Annex III applies only to micro and small primary operators who themselves grow, harvest or produce the commodity. Cooperatives and IHCAFÉ-affiliated exporters aggregating volumes generally operate under the standard Article 4 / Annex II path. EUDRCheck's scope diagnostic identifies your exact role under the regulation.

Pattern 2 — Municipio data missing alongside finca coordinates

Incomplete subdivision data

Annex II point 3 requires country of production plus administrative subdivision. For Honduras, this means department and municipality — not just the finca GPS point. Cooperatives shipping lists of coordinates without department/municipality context fail subdivision validation. EUDRCheck captures both layers automatically.

Pattern 3 — IHCAFÉ cupping score or Fairtrade certificate treated as risk assessment

Certifications are supporting evidence under Article 10.2(m), not a substitute for the 14-criteria analysis

No certification — IHCAFÉ grade, Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance — replaces the risk assessment required by Article 10.2. The EUDR demands a systematic analysis of 14 criteria. A DDS that cites only certificates and omits the analysis is rejected. EUDRCheck produces the full Article 10.2 risk analysis, incorporating your certifications as supporting evidence.

What you receive: an 8-document EUDR dossier generated in your browser

The EUDR dossier and finca GPS collection: two separate layers

● LAYER 1 — THE DOSSIER (EUDRCHECK DOES THIS)

The structured Due Diligence Statement

The eight-document dossier complying with Article 4, Annex II, Article 10 and Article 12 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115. This is the document that your European buyer uploads to TRACES NT. EUDRCheck generates it in 15 minutes, browser-side, for €199 per dossier. One license per shipment. The ZIP you download is yours permanently.

∅ LAYER 2 — FINCA GPS COLLECTION (SEPARATE)

Gathering plot-level GPS from smallholders

Many Honduran cooperatives already have plot-level GPS through IHCAFÉ programmes, Rainforest Alliance group certification, or direct-trade relationships with European roasters. If your data is in a spreadsheet, EUDRCheck imports it. If you are still collecting, the built-in map tool captures coordinates at WGS-84 with 6 decimals, compliant with RFC 7946.

We do not sell field data collection services. We generate the dossier from the data you already have or from coordinates you capture in our built-in map tool. If you change geolocation provider in the future, your EUDRCheck dossier remains valid — the PDF and GeoJSON you downloaded are yours.

Enforcement reality: what happens when the EUDR DDS is missing or invalid

Under Article 25 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, Member States set national penalty regimes but must meet minimum EU-wide standards. The following consequences apply to any operator or trader placing non-compliant products on the EU market — including importers buying from Honduran exporters.

🇪🇺
Fines — minimum 4% of EU annual turnover
≥ 4%

Article 25.2(a) requires Member States to impose fines with a maximum of at least 4% of the operator's or trader's total annual EU-wide turnover in the financial year preceding the fine decision. The maximum may be raised to exceed the economic benefit gained.

🇪🇺
Confiscation of the commodity and its revenues
100%

Article 25.2(b) and (c) — the relevant product and the revenues from its transaction may be seized by national customs and competent authorities.

🇪🇺
Exclusion from EU public procurement
12 months max

Article 25.2(d) — temporary exclusion from tendering procedures, grants and concessions for a maximum of 12 months.

🇪🇺
Temporary market ban in serious or repeated cases
Indefinite

Article 25.2(e) — prohibition on placing relevant products on the EU market until full compliance is demonstrated. Applies to the European buyer, who will pass the consequence upstream to the non-compliant supplier.

Under Article 25.5, the European Commission publishes name, date and summary of every final infringement decision. Reputational exposure is permanent and public.

What EUDRCheck guarantees and what it doesn't

EUDRCheck generates a document structured under Article 4 and Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 (as amended by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650) based on the information you enter. The truthfulness, accuracy and completeness of that information is your responsibility as operator or supplier of the consignment.

We guarantee that the document structure follows Article 4 and Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 and that the legal references cited are correct as of the latest verification date. We do not guarantee that a specific document will be accepted by a market surveillance authority in a specific case, nor by a commercial buyer in a procurement process.

Frequently asked questions — Honduran coffee exporters

Honduras is low-risk. Does my cooperative still need a full DDS?
Probably. The simplified declaration regime applies only to micro and small primary operators who themselves grow or produce the commodity. Cooperatives aggregating from multiple producers generally operate under the standard Article 4 / Annex II path. EUDRCheck's scope diagnostic identifies your exact role.
Who files the DDS in TRACES NT — the Honduran exporter or the EU importer?
The DDS is filed by the EU-based operator who places the coffee on the European market for the first time. Your cooperative provides the structured data package they need. EUDRCheck produces exactly that package.
Can EUDRCheck import IHCAFÉ geolocation data?
Yes. The form accepts GeoJSON files, CSV spreadsheets with lat/long columns, manual point entry, and polygon entry. The GeoJSON validator checks 6-decimal precision, WGS-84 projection and RFC 7946 structure before finalisation.
Does Rainforest Alliance certification replace the Article 10 risk assessment?
No. Article 10.2(m) treats certifications as complementary supporting evidence. EUDRCheck incorporates your certification as input and produces the full 14-criteria analysis separately.
What happens to my smallholder data? Does it leave my computer?
No. EUDRCheck processes everything in your browser. The dossier is generated on your device. No servers hold your data.
Is EUDRCheck legal advice?
No. EUDRCheck is a documentation structuring tool, not a legal service. We guarantee the dossier structure follows Article 4 and Annex II as in force on the date of generation. For specific situations, consult a lawyer.
⚠️ Important notice: EUDRCheck is a self-assessment documentation tool, not legal advice and not a third-party audit.
