Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 · VerifiedGenerate the DDS — €199

Your Coffee Cooperative Has Been Fairtrade Certified for 15 Years. Your European Buyer Still Needs a Separate EUDR Due Diligence Statement — and Here's Why.

Fairtrade International (FLO) certification covers ethical pricing, labour standards, environmental management and traceability within its own audit framework. But it is not a Due Diligence Statement under Regulation (EU) 2023/1115. Article 10.2(m) explicitly states that third-party verified certification schemes may be used as complementary information to support the risk assessment, but do not replace the operator's obligation to file a DDS in TRACES NT. The DDS requires geolocation at plot level (Article 2(28)), a 14-criteria risk assessment (Article 10.2 a-n), and supply chain traceability under Annex II. None of these are outputs of the Fairtrade audit process. EUDRCheck generates the full dossier in 15 minutes. €199 per consignment. Your Fairtrade certificate is incorporated as evidence inside the Article 10.2 risk analysis.

What Fairtrade covers — and what the EUDR requires on top

Fairtrade covers: fair pricing, labour standards, environmental criteria, traceability within the Fairtrade system. The EUDR adds: plot-level geolocation in GeoJSON, 14-criteria risk assessment, supply chain mapping with entity identification, 8 areas of country-of-production law, and a formal statement filed in TRACES NT.

The overlap is partial. Fairtrade addresses some environmental and social criteria. The EUDR adds geolocation, deforestation-free proof, and a structured filing obligation.

The 6 DDS steps — what Fairtrade does NOT cover

Each step highlights what Fairtrade does not provide.

1
Commodity
HS code + species. Fairtrade doesn't produce this in Annex II format.
2
Country of production
With subnational subdivision. Fairtrade tracks origin but not in EUDR format.
3
Geolocation
WGS-84, 6 decimals, GeoJSON RFC 7946. Fairtrade does NOT produce GeoJSON at this precision.
4
Supply chain mapping
Full upstream + downstream entity IDs. Fairtrade tracks within its system but not in Annex II.5 format.
5
Legal compliance
8 areas under Art. 2(40). Fairtrade covers some environmental/social, not all 8.
6
Risk assessment + TRACES NT
14 criteria, formal filing. Fairtrade does NOT file in TRACES NT.

EUDRCheck incorporates your Fairtrade certificate into the Article 10.2 analysis and produces the full DDS.

Three most common certification mistakes

Pattern 1 — Fairtrade certificate submitted as DDS

Two different documents with different contents

TRACES NT does not accept Fairtrade certificates as DDS substitutions.

Pattern 2 — Fairtrade geolocation = EUDR precision

Cooperative-level ≠ plot-level WGS-84

Art. 2(28) requires 6-decimal precision. EUDRCheck validates.

Pattern 3 — Low-risk + Fairtrade = exempt

DDS still required for all operators above micro/small threshold

The simplified regime applies only to micro/small primary operators — not to EU importers.

What you receive: an 8-document EUDR dossier

EUDRCheck does not generate a single PDF. It generates a complete dossier of eight structured documents, delivered as a ZIP file you download and keep. Every document cites the specific EUDR article it complies with.

The Fairtrade certificate and the EUDR DDS: two separate documents

● EUDR DDS (EUDRCHECK)

Structured document filed in TRACES NT

Geolocation, risk assessment, supply chain, legal compliance. Your Fairtrade cert is incorporated as evidence.

∅ FAIRTRADE CERTIFICATE (FLO-CERT)

Commercial and ethical credential

Covers pricing, labour, environment within the Fairtrade system. Does not produce GeoJSON, does not file in TRACES NT.

Both are valuable. Neither replaces the other.

What EUDRCheck guarantees and what it doesn't

EUDRCheck generates a document structured under Article 4 and Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 (as amended by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650) based on the information you enter. The truthfulness, accuracy and completeness of that information is your responsibility as operator or supplier of the consignment.

We guarantee that the document structure follows Article 4 and Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 and that the legal references cited are correct as of the latest verification date. We do not guarantee that a specific document will be accepted by a market surveillance authority in a specific case, nor by a commercial buyer in a procurement process.
