Directive 2014/53/EU now requires cybersecurity documentation for your electronics. The Customs Union does not exempt you. The obligation is on you as manufacturer under Art. 10.

You export consumer electronics from Turkey to the EU. From 1 August 2025, Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30 activates cybersecurity requirements. The Customs Union covers tariffs — NOT technical harmonisation. A consultancy quotes €5,000–10,000 per model. REDCheck generates 5 PDF documents. 30 minutes. €99 per product.

Three mistakes Turkish electronics exporters make about Directive 2014/53/EU cybersecurity

COMMON ERROR

"The Customs Union means we are treated like an EU manufacturer"

The Customs Union eliminates tariffs. It does NOT harmonise technical regulations. Directive 2014/53/EU applies to Turkey as a third-country manufacturer.

COMMON ERROR

"Directive 2014/53/EU is about radio spectrum — not cybersecurity"

The Directive covers safety, EMC, spectrum AND cybersecurity under Art. 3(3)(d), (e) and (f), activated by Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30.

COMMON ERROR

"My importer handles compliance"

Art. 10(1) and 10(3): obligation is on the manufacturer.
