Three mistakes DPOs make with the EAA assignment
"I told IT to fix accessibility"
IT can fix bugs. But the compliance documentation — the structured report under Art. 13.2 — is what management assigned you to produce. IT does not produce compliance files. You do.
"Our CMS says it's WCAG compliant"
Your CMS provides the framework. Your content, plugins, themes and customisations break accessibility. The law evaluates your website as published, not the CMS in its default state.
"Nobody has asked for it yet"
The EAA is enforceable since 28 June 2025. Market surveillance is proactive. The first inquiry from an authority or a disabled consumer will not come with a 4-week grace period.
